The second law which is going to change is the Criminal Procedure Code. The Criminal Procedure Code, i.e. Criminal Procedure Court. The Indian Civil Protection Code 2023 has replaced the CRPC. Nine provisions of the CRPC have been repealed through the Indian Civil Protection Code. Apart from this, changes have been made in 107 provisions of the CRPC in this law. And nine new provisions have been asked to be introduced. There are a total of 533 sections in the Indian Civil Protection Code.
What is a 3rd low-

This Indian Evidence Act–
The people involved in rape are punished with minimum 10 years of jail or life imprisonment. The minimum punishment for gang rape is 20 years of imprisonment. The person can be sent to jail for the rest of life. According to this bill, if a woman dies after rape, or if the woman is continuously unconscious due to rape, then the culprit is punished with rigorous imprisonment, which will not be less than 20 years. The provision of life imprisonment has been increased in this.
There are some special provisions in the bill, in which citizens will be able to register zero FIR in any police station. Irrespective of their jurisdiction, i.e., as it used to be earlier, that it does not come in our area. Such things will not happen from July 1. It will be mandatory to send zero FIR to the jurisdictional police station within 15 days after registration of the crime. That is, if you file an FIR anywhere, then the area where the crime has happened to you, the in-charge will have to be transferred there within 15 days.
The entire hearing including cross-examination and appeal will also be done through video conferencing. Videography is mandatory while recording the statements of victims of sexual crimes. 20 years of punishment for all types of gang rape. And life imprisonment, as I told you. And even the death penalty has been included in the punishment for raping a minor. A 90-day deadline exists for filing the charge sheet after the FIR is registered.
About inquiry
At such a time, the court can extend it for another 90 days. That is, if there is no case yet. Then only the court can extend it. You have to file a charge sheet within 90 days. You are referring to the police. The courts have to complete the work of framing charges within 60 days of receiving the charge sheet. The verdict will be announced within 30 days after the conclusion of the hearing. The verdict will be made available online within 7 days of its announcement. A video must be made of the search and seizure process.
Forensic teams will have to compulsorily visit crime scenes for crimes punishable with more than 7 years. Mobile FSL will be deployed at district level. No case punishable with 7 years or more will be returned without giving the victim an opportunity to be heard. Separate tough punishment for organized crime. There will be a provision for punishment for raping a woman on the pretext of marriage, job etc.
There is also a separate provision for mischievous activities like chain mobile snatching. The punishment for crime against children, which was 7 years, has been increased to 10 years imprisonment. The death penalty can be reduced to a maximum of life imprisonment. A life sentence may be shortened to a maximum of 7 years. And the sentence of 7 years can be converted to 3 years imprisonment. But not less than this. Videography of vehicles seized for involvement in any crime will also be mandatory.
